Job Description:

What's the role about?

We are looking for an experienced and driven Accounts Payable Manager to lead our accounts team, overseeing the full cycle of accounts payable processes. This role is pivotal in ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in the recording, processing, and payment of stock-related transactions. As a key member of the finance department, you will play a critical role in maintaining smooth financial operations while managing a dynamic team.

Who you are

  • In-depth expertise in accounts payable, with a proven track record in managing and developing a high-performing team. You are skilled in delegating tasks and ensuring operational efficiency.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. Knowledge of Microsoft Business Central is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with both internal teams and external vendors.
  • Strong leadership capabilities, with experience in mentoring and developing staff to reach their full potential.
  • Experience within the retail sector and qualification as an accountant (ACA or equivalent) would be highly beneficial.
  • Exceptional time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Problem-solving mindset, capable of proactively identifying issues and implementing solutions in a timely manner.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead and manage the accounts payable team, ensuring the timely and efficient processing of invoices, payments, and vendor inquiries, while maintaining accurate and up-to-date vendor information.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including logistics and stock departments, to ensure stock purchase orders, receipts, and invoices are correctly matched and processed, thereby minimising discrepancies.
  • Work closely with auditors during both internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations related to stock-related payables and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, accounting standards, and legal requirements in all accounts payable activities, maintaining a strong focus on accuracy and compliance. Prepare and review monthly accounts payable reports for senior management.
  • Assist with month-end close activities, including the reconciliation of accounts payable ledgers, accruals, and reporting of expenses, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Develop and implement best practices for the accounts payable function, driving continuous improvements in efficiency, accuracy, and overall team performance.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train the accounts payable team, fostering a collaborative environment that enhances team productivity and job satisfaction.
  • Implement process improvements, leveraging your knowledge and expertise to streamline workflows and optimise the accounts payable cycle.

  • Provide you with a competitive salary
  • Company pension
  • Company bonus scheme
