Job summary

BBF Limited, a UK-based ambient cake and chilled dessert manufacturer, is hiring an Accounts Payable Clerk. You will manage invoices, code and enter data, process payments, and maintain vendor relationships while supporting month-end closing and audit documentation.

The role requires accuracy, strong communication, and familiarity with accounting software. The position offers hybrid working with 3 days in the office and 2 days at home.

Qualifications

• Experience in a transactional finance role with processing around 150–200 invoices per week.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
• Previous experience and proficiency in the use of finance/accounting software.
• Detail-oriented and capable of maintaining a high level of accuracy.
• Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing issues.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for managing outgoing bills and invoices on behalf of the company. These responsibilities include maintaining ledgers, ensuring invoices are accurate, and maintaining reports of purchases made by the organisation. The clerk works closely with other members of the finance team and communicates with vendors to ensure timely and accurate payment processing.

The role of Accounts Payable Clerk at BBF

Invoice Processing

• Review and verify invoices and check requests.
• Sort, code, and match invoices.
• Enter invoices into the system.
• Track expenses and process expense reports.
• Prepare and perform check runs.

Vendor Management

• Maintain vendor files, including collecting necessary information for payment setup.
• Correspond with vendors and respond to enquiries.
• Reconcile vendor statements.
• Investigate and correct discrepancies.

Payment Handling

• Process payments in a timely manner.
• Issue stop-payments or purchase order amendments.

Record Keeping

• Maintain accurate historical records.
• Maintain confidentiality of organisational information.

Reporting

• Assist with month-end closing.
• Provide supporting documentation for audits.
