About the role:
Join our vibrant finance team and contribute to the smooth running of our accounts payable operations. We're looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to support a range of finance activities-from invoice processing to month-end reconciliations-while ensuring compliance with internal policies and financial regulations.
The role is based in our Northampton office with the opportunity to work from home 2 days per week, if required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and verify invoices accurately, following established approval workflows.
- Prepare and execute payment runs, including electronic transfers and cheque payments.
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounts payable records and ledgers.
- Support month-end close activities, including reconciliations and journal entries.
- Liaise with internal teams and external vendors to resolve queries and improve processes.
- Monitor accounts payable aging and ensure timely payments.
- Assist with audit preparations by providing relevant documentation and explanations.
About you- Experience in a high-volume accounts payable or finance role.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and procedures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
- Proactive problem-solver with a collaborative mindset.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- AAT qualification (or equivalent) preferred-study support available.
