We combine data, intelligent automation and human expertise to make smart decisions, fast.

ERS is the UK's largest specialist motor insurer with an A+ rating. We recognise that for some, motor insurance is more than just a must-have; it's a way of taking care of what stands at the heart of their passion or livelihood. For those people, standard insurance isn't enough. That's why we work exclusively with motor insurance brokers to help get under the skin of the most difficult insurance risks, helping build products to meet their customer's needs.

The role

The Accounts Payable Advisor is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payments, invoices and expenses, while supporting the Procure to Pay (P2P) process through Proactis. The advisor plays a key role in maintaining financial controls, resolving queries and supporting month-end activities to ensure smooth and compliant financial operations.

  • Accurately enter and register invoices into the Procure to Pay (P2P) system Proactis, ensuring timely inclusion in payment runs and flagging any delays.
  • Respond promptly to internal and external queries received in the inboxes.
  • Take ownership of payment runs, liaising with banking authorisers and escalating risks of missed payments to senior stakeholders.
  • Provide support for month-end activities, including saving bank statements, supplier reconciliations and reconciling cash receipts.
  • Support the business in the P2P process using Proactis, including:
    • Liaise with Procurement to establish monthly processes to ensure Purchase Orders are raised and receipted on a timely basis
    • Monitor Key Performance Indicators to ensure processes are on track and identify issues early
    • Troubleshoot Proactis queries / issues and liaise with non-finance stakeholders to resolve.
Qualifications, skills and experience
  • Experience working in a finance or accounting operations team, ideally within insurance or financial services.
  • Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and controls.
  • Hands-on experience with P2P systems, preferably Proactis.
  • Familiarity with UK and international banking protocols, anti-fraud procedures, and AML guidelines.
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer service mindset.
  • Analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; experience with accounting software and banking platforms is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.

  • Discretionary bonus scheme
  • Employee assistance programme
  • Annual holiday buy (up to 3 extra days)
