Accounts Manager – Hertfordshire – £75,000

Location: Hertfordshire

Salary: £75,000

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8AM – 5PM

An excellent opportunity has arisen with one of my clients who are looking for an Accounts Manager for a Critical Environment located in Hertfordshire. You will be leading a team of multi-skilled engineers, ensuring contractual obligations are met and supporting them with technical support and mentoring. The successful candidate will support the Key Account Manager in daily tasks with reliability, flexibility, and professionalism. You will also support Contract Managers and Contract Support in dealing proactively with escalated reactive tasks.

Duties will include:

  • Managing the successful and profitable delivery of contracts worth £3m – £4m.
  • Leading, motivating, supporting, and developing a team of Engineers, ensuring adherence to people management processes and fostering a culture of performance and continuous improvement.
  • Participating actively in the Maintenance Management team, leading improvement programmes and ensuring consistent rollout of contract programmes.
  • Engaging in industry networking and membership activities to stay updated with modern practices, technology, and best practices.
  • Acting as a key customer interface on key sites within the geographical area, ensuring client visibility and understanding of contract requirements.
  • Supporting in tender preparation, including costing and verification of assets, and assisting in tender submissions and presentations.
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation and company policies.
  • Owning the P&L for the contract.
  • Providing quarterly financial reports on contractual performance.
  • Overseeing project completion certificates for timely invoicing.
  • Monitoring Work in Progress to ensure budget adherence.
  • Reporting regularly to clients on financial status and contract details.
  • Managing invoicing processes and subcontractor relationships, including performance reviews and compliance.
  • Analyzing KPI and SLA performance, driving improvement initiatives.
  • Supporting the Maintenance Services strategy and promoting a 'One Team' ethos.
  • Managing employee development, succession planning, and talent management, including apprenticeships.
  • Implementing efficiency strategies to exceed productivity and cost reduction targets.
  • Supporting supplier performance management.
  • Creating and distributing management information reports for clients and internal use.

Requirements:

  • Managing contracts worth £2-4m, ensuring retention and growth.
  • Delivering budgeted margins.
  • Managing WIP and debt targets.
  • Ensuring safety and compliance across sites.
  • Meeting SLAs within control span.
  • Fostering cooperation and teamwork across operations.
  • Supporting talent development within maintenance teams.
  • Proven experience in P&L management, cost control, and margin achievement.
  • Leading and developing engineering teams to improve performance.
  • Handling performance management and employee relations issues.
