Job summary

Butler Rose is seeking an experienced Accounts Executive in Bury St Edmunds to manage a diverse client portfolio, prepare accounts and support tax compliance. The role is client-facing with opportunities to mentor junior staff and contribute to service delivery across owner-managed businesses, partnerships and limited companies.

The ideal candidate has at least five years of UK practice experience, ACA qualification (or equivalent), and strong knowledge of statutory accounts and UK taxation.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years' current or recent experience working within a UK accountancy practice (essential).
• ACA qualified or qualified by experience.
• Strong technical knowledge of statutory accounts preparation and UK taxation.
• Experience working with owner-managed businesses, limited companies, partnerships and sole traders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a confident client-facing approach.
• Full, unrestricted right to work in the UK is essential. Sponsorship is not available.

Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of clients, acting as a trusted adviser and providing day-to-day business and accounting support.
• Reviewing statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, limited companies and LLPs.
• Preparing more complex accounts and draft tax computations for review.
• Identifying advisory opportunities and supporting clients in achieving their business objectives.
• Ensuring compliance with internal procedures, risk management processes and departmental standards.
• Undertaking technical research and supporting ad hoc client projects.
• Managing work allocation, deadlines, recoverability and client expectations.
• Monitoring WIP, productivity and fee recovery.
• Supporting, training and mentoring junior team members.
• Liaising with clients, professional intermediaries and colleagues across tax, legal and financial planning teams.
• Ensuring all work is completed to a high technical standard before review.
• Maintaining CPD requirements and keeping technical knowledge up to date.
