Job summary

TPF Recruitment is supporting a well established accountancy practice in Alton, Hampshire, for an Accounts Assistant / Accounts Semi Senior to join their team. The role is permanent, full-time with a salary £28,000 – £35,000 DOE.

The successful candidate will perform accounts prep, bookkeeping, VAT, and tax work, with study support and flexible working after probation. Progression is encouraged within the firm.

Qualifications

• AAT Level 3/4 required or studying towards ACCA/ACA.
• UK accountancy practice experience preferred.
• Strong communication and client service skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Bookkeeping for diverse clients.
• Prepare VAT returns.
• Assist with self assessment tax returns.
• Support with corporation tax computations.
• Prepare working papers and maintain client records.
• Liaise with clients and answer queries.
• Support team with varied practice accounting tasks.
• Manage own workload and meet deadlines.

TPF Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a well established accountancy practice in Alton, Hampshire, in their search for an Accounts Assistant / Accounts Semi Senior to join their growing team. This is a great opportunity for a part qualified accountant with UK accountancy practice experience who is looking to develop their career within a friendly and supportive firm.

The role offers a varied mix of accounts preparation, bookkeeping, tax compliance and client interaction, giving you the opportunity to continue building your technical knowledge and take on increasing responsibility as you progress.

The firm offers a supportive working environment, with flexible working available following successful completion of the probationary period. Study support is also available for candidates who are actively studying towards a relevant qualification.

What you’ll be doing:

• Preparing accounts for a range of sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
• Bookkeeping for a variety of clients
• Preparing VAT returns
• Assisting with self assessment tax returns
• Supporting with corporation tax computations
• Preparing working papers and maintaining accurate client records
• Liaising with clients and assisting with day to day queries
• Supporting the wider team with a variety of practice accounting work
• Managing your own workload and working to client deadlines
• Developing your knowledge across accounts, tax and general practice work

RequirementsWho we’re looking for:

We’re looking for someone who is keen, proactive and looking to build a long term career within accountancy practice. You should have previous experience working within a UK accountancy practice, with a good grounding in accounts preparation and ideally exposure to bookkeeping and tax compliance.

The ideal candidate will have:

• AAT Level 3 or 4 qualification, or be working towards ACCA/ACA
• Previous experience within a UK accountancy practice
• Experience preparing accounts for a range of clients
• Good communication and client relationship skills
• The ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently
• A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and develop
