Are you an organised and detail-oriented individual looking for a new opportunity in accounting? We are a well-established private practice seeking a dedicated Accounts Assistant to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, where you'll gain valuable experience and develop your accounting career.


Key Responsibilities
  1. Accounts Processing: Manage and process day-to-day financial transactions, including sales and purchase invoices, bank reconciliations, and credit control.
  2. VAT Returns: Assist in the preparation and submission of VAT returns.
  3. Payroll Support: Support the payroll function, including the preparation of payroll data and ensuring timely payments.
  4. Financial Reporting: Assist with the preparation of monthly and year-end financial reports.
  5. Client Invoicing: Prepare and issue client invoices and ensure accurate record-keeping.
  6. Data Entry & Filing: Maintain and update financial records accurately and efficiently.
  7. Communication: Liaise with clients and colleagues to resolve any accounting queries.

Skills & Experience Required
  1. Experience: Previous experience in an accounts assistant or similar role is desirable but not essential.
  2. Accounting Software: Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, QuickBooks) is beneficial.
  3. Organisational Skills: Ability to work to deadlines and manage a varied workload effectively.
  4. Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  5. Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a small, friendly team.
  6. Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Desirable Qualifications
  1. AAT Level 2 or 3 (or working towards) is desirable but not essential.
  2. A good understanding of UK accounting principles and tax laws is advantageous.
