Accounts Assistant
Part time up to 15 hours per week
£23,835 FTE per annum (pro rata for part time hours)

Burton and South Derbyshire College are looking for a detail-driven and pro-active Accounts Assistant to join our friendly Finance team! If you're eager to grow your career in accounting, this is your chance to learn, develop, and make an impact in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with day-to-day financial transactions, including purchase ledger, sales ledger and payroll entries
  • Reconcile customer and supplier accounts
  • Process invoices using our OCR software
  • Support month-end and year-end financial processes
  • Liaise with internal departments and external suppliers
  • Provide general administrative support to the finance team and wider networks
  • Engage with BSDC policies pertaining to sustainability and learner focus
Requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility, approachable attitude and willingness to learn
Desirable
  • Previous experience in a similar finance or accounts role
  • Knowledge of basic finance and payroll processes
  • AAT qualification (or working towards) or equivalent demonstrable experience

Applicants should be qualified to, or willing to work towards, Level 2 English and Maths. Evidence of qualifications is required.
