About the Role

Reporting into an AFC, the responsibilities of the Accounts Assistant is to ensure European Postage rates are calculated and completed as per company policy and first time approach, as well as ownership of balance sheet accounts, accruals/prepayments, indirect invoice approvals from various couriers plus ad hoc duties as and when required to support the wider Fulfilment Team.

The Accounts Assistant acts as a subject matter expert and point of reference for activities or issues related to the aforementioned tasks and ensures that related processes are executed in line with the Group procedures and according to the internal and external audit requirements.

Performance Delivery

  • Own the EU Postage process, including invoicing admin and mailbox management.
  • Own the month-end process for P&L and BS, demonstrating a keen eye for detail.
  • Ownership of month-end procedures including accruals, prepayments, courier claims and supporting client billing.
  • Invoice approvals to support the wider operational finance team.
  • A proactive approach to month-end and financial planning.
  • Take part in divisional finance and internal stakeholder meetings as and when required.
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with all relevant internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify recurring issues and potential room for improvement within current processes.
  • Strive to achieve best practice performance levels against agreed set of KPIs.

Role Requirements

  • Working towards an accountancy qualification (AAT, ACA, ACCA or CIMA), or QBE
  • Business partnering & cost accounting experience
  • Proven, hands-on experience of management reporting in a large and complex business.
  • Analytical, quick to grasp the fundamentals of a business and have strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work with Senior Stakeholders
  • Experience working within a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage a high-volume workload in a fast-moving and changeable environment.
  • Fluent in English both verbal and written. Another European Language (French, Polish, German) an advantage but not essential
  • Office IT literate, preferably with intermediate MS Excel skills
  • Sage or any other ERP systems knowledge
  • Maintaining a can do, positive attitude with a focus on high level internal and external customer service.
