Job summary

A leading accounting firm is seeking an ambitious Accountancy Apprentice in Luton. This role offers on-the-job training and the opportunity to study for an AAT qualification while gaining hands-on experience in various accounting tasks. Ideal candidates will have strong GCSE grades in Maths and English.

Qualifications

  • GCSE or equivalent in Maths (grade 7) and English (grade 5) required.
  • Desirable A Level in Accountancy (grade A) and Mathematics (grade B).
  • GCSE or equivalent in IT (grade 6) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of accounts, tax returns, and bookkeeping.
  • Assist with tax calculations and general office admin duties.
  • Work closely with clients for compliance and tax assistance.

Summary
Undertaking a range of duties within Accountancy, the role will suit an ambitious candidate who wishes to study for an AAT qualification whilst receiving on the job training.

Wage
£14,918.80 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You'll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

We are a small firm of qualified Accountants, providing a variety of compliance-based services, which include statutory accounts, tax returns, payroll, VAT, along with other services relating to the preparation of management accounts and dealing with HMRC regulatory issues. We have a varied portfolio of clients trading as sole traders, partnerships, limited companies and charities.

Duties will cover day to day office duties such as:

  • Preparation of Accounts
  • Tax Returns
  • Tax Calculations
  • Bookkeeping
  • Payroll
  • VAT
  • Other general office admin duties

What you'll learn

  • Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
  • Record and analyse financial data using the organisation's standard tools and processes.
  • Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts.
  • Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
  • Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
  • Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
  • Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
  • Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
  • Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.

Your training plan

As an Accountancy Apprentice with BPP, you will complete the Accounts Assistant Apprenticeship at Level 3. Within the apprenticeship you will undertake the full AAT Level 3 qualification.

The apprenticeship will be completed via the Online Classroom platform, in addition to at the workplace.

Essential qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:
Maths (grade 7)

Desirable qualifications

  • Mathematics (grade B)
GCSE or equivalent in:
