Summary
You will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the finance function. This position is ideal for someone eager to learn, grow, and develop core finance skills in a dynamic and supportive environment. You'll gain hands-on experience across various areas of accounting while working alongside experienced finance professionals.

What you'll do at work

Responsibilities and Tasks:

Accounts Payable & Receivable:

  • Assist with processing supplier invoices and reconciling supplier statements.
  • Help with preparing customer invoices and supporting credit control.
  • Maintain accurate records and understand the full cycle of payables and receivables.
Bank Reconciliation:
  • Learn how to perform monthly bank reconciliations and understand cash flow management.
  • Help investigate and resolve any bank discrepancies.
General Ledger Support:
  • Gain exposure to the general ledger by supporting journal entry postings.
  • Assist with reconciling balance sheet accounts and supporting month-end processes.
Financial Reporting & Audit:
  • Support the finance team in compiling monthly and quarterly reports.
  • Assist in preparing audit schedules and documentation during internal or external audits.
Team Support & Projects:
  • Provide general administrative support to the finance team.
  • Participate in finance-related projects and team initiatives to broaden your experience.

  • Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
  • Record and analyse financial data using the organisation's standard tools and processes.
  • Apply double entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts.
  • Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
  • Reconcile financial data, such as, preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
  • Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within their remit as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Communicate financial information in a way that non-finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
  • Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
  • Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
  • Communicate using varying approaches and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.

Training schedule

Apprentices will be required to attend college at least x1 day per week either at Uxbridge, Harrow or Hayes Campus completing necessary mandatory training and units associated with the apprenticeship.

The apprentice will be required to complete:
  • Work towards gaining a full Qualification.
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities.
  • Skills, Knowledge, and Behaviours.
  • Standard and End Point Assessment.
  • Functional Skills in English, Maths, and ICT (if required).
Other training will be provided by the employer as required to enable the fulfilment of the job role.
