Accounts Assistant (12 months Mat Cover)

Job Introduction

Job Title: Accounts Assistant

Contract type: Fixed-term contract for up to 12 months (maternity leave cover)

Hours: 30 - 37.5 hours per week, flexible hours and days

Location: Remote working with up to 2 visits per month to our Head Office in Cannock

Salary: £27,000 - £30,000 depending on skills and experience

Driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential

We are seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant to join our finance team!

At Horizon, we value our people and are proud to be a leading provider of young people's residential care and education in the UK.

What you'll do:

  • Support with various accounts transactional processes, including consolidated billing
  • Perform bank and cash account reconciliations
  • Handle intercompany journal entries for manual invoices
  • Manage prepayments and accruals, including cash transactions
  • Maintain HESL fixed assets and central costs accruals
  • Conduct rent reviews and review repairs and maintenance expenses (Opex/Capex)
  • Post assets & depreciation entries
  • Process bank payments
  • Assist the finance team with ad hoc duties

What we're looking for:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUP and pivot tables
  • Minimum 2 months experience as an accounts assistant
  • AAT full or part qualification
  • Knowledge of SAGE Intacct preferred
