Accounts Assistant (12-14 Month FTC)

Wedlake Bell is seeking an Accounts Assistant to become a valuable member of our Accounts & Finance Team. This is a 12-14 Month fixed-term contract to cover a maternity leave in the team.

Our Accounts & Finance team play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of our firm by managing day-to-day accounting tasks, assisting with financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with accounting procedures and regulatory standards.

In this role as an Accounts Assistant, you will support the team across billing, cashiering, and banking reconciliations.We are looking for someone with a passion for Accounts & Finance, with strong attention to detail and are keen to develop in a friendly, fast-paced team.

Candidates must be immediately-available.

Key Responsibilities:

Billing

  • Assisting with the billing inbox, preparing and producing bills; and
  • Other ad-hoc duties as needed.

Legal Cashiering

  • Ensure client account balances and transactions are maintained in accordance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR);
  • Prepare client's fee ledgers, recording receipts and payments;
  • Inputting payments onto the banking system;
  • Investigating Client Balances under £10.00;
  • Client to office transfers; and
  • Other ad-hoc cashiering duties as needed.

Bank Reconciliations

  • Carrying out the Client Bank Reconciliation on a rota basis; and
  • Other ad-hoc duties as needed.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant role, ideally with legal cashiering experience (though not a requirement to apply);
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel;
  • Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise effectively;
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Have a positive attitude and be proactive; and
  • Ability to ensure confidentiality of all information is maintained.
