Job summary

Harold Smith Chartered Accountants, based in St Asaph, North Wales, is inviting applications for an AAT qualified Accounts Assistant on a full-time, permanent basis. Salary depends on experience.

You will join a growing practice serving clients across North Wales and Chester, handling year-end accounts, VAT returns, bookkeeping and basic tax tasks. Training toward ACA/ACCA is offered, with a supportive team and real client contact.

Qualifications

• AAT qualified (Level 4, or Level 3 with relevant experience).
• Experience in an accountancy practice preferred.
• Good with Excel and cloud accounting software.
• Organised, accurate and able to manage deadlines.
• Happy working with clients and as part of a team.
• Welsh speaking is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Prepare year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns.
• Bookkeeping and bank reconciliations.
• Help with personal and corporation tax returns.
• Deal with client queries by phone and email.
• Use Xero, QuickBooks and other practice software.

Harold Smith Chartered Accountants is an established, ICAEW-regulated practice with offices in St Asaph and Criccieth. Our clients across North Wales and Chester include sole traders, limited companies, landlords, trusts and estates.

We're growing, and we're looking for an AAT qualified Accounts Assistant to join our friendly team.

What you'll be doing:

• Preparing year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
• Preparing and submitting VAT returns
• Bookkeeping and bank reconciliations
• Helping with personal and corporation tax returns
• Dealing with client queries by phone and email
• Using Xero, QuickBooks and other practice software

What we’re looking for:

• AAT qualified (Level 4, or Level 3 with relevant experience)
