Accounts Assistant – £24,000 - £26,000 depending on experience – Rochford, Essex

The Role

Do you have a solid grasp of payroll, VAT returns, and personal tax? Are you looking to build your skills in a supportive and close-knit accountancy team?

We’re looking for an Accounts Assistant to join our small practice based in the heart of Rochford. This is a hands-on role with variety and scope, ideal for someone who enjoys working across multiple areas of accountancy.

In this role, you’ll work closely with our team to support the day-to-day running of our practice. This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm.

Key Responsibilities:

You’ll be involved in a broad range of tasks, including:

  • Processing payroll for clients
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns
  • Completing personal tax returns
  • Preparing sole trader and partnership accounts
  • Assisting with limited company accounts

The Person

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Confident using Excel, Word and other common computer programmes
  • Organised and reliable
  • Eager to learn and develop their skills
  • Comfortable working across different areas of accountancy

Previous experience in a similar role is helpful but not essential — the right attitude and willingness to learn are just as important.
