Accounts Assistant (Temporary – Project Reconciliation & Finance Support)

Location: Preston office based role, on-site full time 35 hours per week Monday - Friday.

Duration: 3 months, with potential extension

Reports To: Finance Manager

Role Purpose

We are seeking a temporary Accounts Assistant to support a specific reconciliation project within the finance department. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing, investigating, and clearing outstanding items to bring disbursement accounts up to date, while ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal controls. Beyond this project, the role will provide general support to the wider finance team and Finance Manager as required during the budget and year end.

Key Skills & Experience
  • AAT qualified
  • Previous experience in an accounting or finance role, ideally with a focus on reconciliations and control accounts.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Good working knowledge of accounting systems and Excel
  • Ability to manage time effectively, prioritise workload, and meet deadlines.
  • Flexible, proactive approach and willingness to support the wider team when needed.
  • Previous experience in a legal setting would be advantageous
