Job Advertisement: Finance Support Role

Location: Hybrid (3 days on-site) - Manchester, Oldham, Ashton Under Lyme

Salary: £24000 to £26,000

Key Responsibilities

In This Exciting Role, You Will:

  • Collaborate with the Finance Manager to assist in producing weekly accounts.
  • Oversee time, attendance, and payroll on-site, addressing any related inquiries.
  • Analyse costs and provide clear commentary on variances for operational stakeholders and the Finance Manager.
  • Support operators in understanding the cost drivers of operations.
  • Ensure accurate tracking of relevant costs for prepayments and accruals.
  • Work with the operations team to collect statistics and non-financial data for accounting purposes.
  • Aid in month-end processes by reconciling reported costs and highlighting risks and opportunities for the Finance Officer.
  • Review weekly operational trackers and coordinate with the operations team to resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist with balance sheet reconciliations at the end of each period.
  • Create and post weekly and monthly journal entries.
  • Manage purchasing tasks for the contract, including raising purchase orders and addressing supplier queries.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Currently studying or interested in pursuing a professional accountancy qualification (AAT, CIMA, or ACCA).
  • Eager to build a career in finance within the logistics sector.
  • Proficient in PC skills, especially Microsoft Excel.
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic, with the ability to work accurately under pressure and adapt to business needs during peak reporting times.
  • Capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
