The role also provides flexible support to the broader Finance team as workload and business needs dictate, and is expected to meet required timetabling, whilst actively challenging and improving existing ways of working.

General Duties/Key Responsibilities:
  • Daily cash postings, reconciliations and cash allocations, completing promptly and accurately

  • Ownership of the monthly revenue reporting and associated journals, in line with monthly timetable and revenue recognition principles
  • Monthly project accounting and gross margin analysis & journals
  • Lead the weekly debtor meeting, driving agreed actions through to resolution
  • Weekly debtor reporting, commentaries and following up on actions
  • Directly chase outstanding debt, escalating appropriately
  • Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with customers and operational teams across the business, acting as a trusted partner for finance matters
  • Prepare the 13‑week cash flow forecast weekly
  • Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns
  • Posting invoices and credit notes to accounting system, and issuing proforma invoices, where required
  • Set‑up new customers in Business Central, including completion of required forms and administration
  • Support a clean, well‑evidenced financial audit through accurate records and prompt responses
  • Drive continuous improvement of processes, identifying digital solutions, automation and AI opportunities
  • Other tasks associated with the Finance team, including processing bank payments and Accounts Payable purchase invoices, and supporting the broader Finance team where required
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Previous experience with sales ledger activities and accounts receivable experience
  • Strong Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, data analysis, and reconciliations
  • Sound process and control mindset, with strong attention to detail and a methodical approach
  • Able to work accurately under month‑end timescales, manage workload independently, and meet deadlines
  • Confident, professional communicator, able to build rapport and hold customers to account on payment, while working effectively with Finance colleagues and internal stakeholders
  • Confident problem solver who takes ownership, resolves issues pragmatically, and escalates appropriately
  • Working knowledge of accounting systems, preferably Microsoft Business Central
  • Proactive mindset, with confidence identifying process improvements, automation, and AI opportunities
  • Flexible team player, willing to support cross‑functional Finance activity and changing business priorities
  • Exposure to cash flow forecasting, factoring or invoice finance, gross margin reporting, or VAT returns would be advantageous but is not essential
Working Environment:

This is an office based role that involves working closely with the Finance team and other stakeholders, while also engaging with operational teams and end users.
