Assistant Accountant | Grimsby | Permanent

Your new company

Hays Accountancy & Finance is partnering with a Food Production company in the Grimsby region who are looking to add an Assistant Accountant to their finance team.

Your new role

As Assistant Accountant, you will be a key part of the Finance Team reporting to the Assistant Finance Manager.
Main Responsibilities include:

  1. Prepare the labour, material & price variance in the weekly accounts
  2. Post agency direct & indirect labour journals
  3. Completion of weekly reports
  4. Completion of weekly & monthly BPC
  5. Ensure timely and accurate preparation and posting of manual journals inline with a defined month-end timetable
  6. Reviewing purchase orders raised
  7. Reviewing cost centre performance
  8. Completion of the balance rec sheets
  9. Distribute weekly analysis of invoice queries to the individuals raising PO's
  10. Reviewing invoice queries and resolving any issues to ensure suppliers are paid on time
  11. Review and solve route cause of issues
  12. Complete weekly procurement register of all PO's raised in the week
  13. Prepare excise duty return for review
  14. Support the commercial & finance team in any other ad hoc activities
What you'll need to succeed
  1. AAT Qualification
  2. Strong analytical & organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads to time-sensitive deadlines
  3. Attention to detail and upholding high standards
  4. Comfortable communicating to stakeholders at all levels
  5. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
