Accounts Assistant

Our client is seeking a motivated and detail–oriented Accounts Assistant to join its small finance team in Leicestershire. This role is ideal for an individual currently studying towards an AAT qualification or a finance graduate looking to expand their accounting experience.

Reporting directly to the Company Accountant, the successful candidate will be responsible for a range of accounting duties, contributing to the smooth operation of the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

1. Maintaining and updating the sales ledger and purchase ledger
2. Assisting with month–end reconciliations and reporting
3. Credit control, including chasing overdue invoices and resolving payment issues
4. Processing invoices, expenses, and payments accurately and in a timely manner
5. Assisting with bank reconciliations and cash flow management
6. Supporting the Company Accountant with financial reporting and analysis
7. Handling supplier and customer queries efficiently
8. Ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures

Key Requirements

1. Studying towards an AAT qualification or holding a finance–related degree (desirable)
2. Previous experience in a finance or accounts role is desirable but not essential
3. Working knowledge of Sage 50 is desirable
4. Strong numerical and analytical skills with great attention to detail
5. Excellent communication and organisational skills
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast–paced environment

This role is based in Leicestershire and is an office-based position, Monday–Friday, 9–5.30pm.
