Job summary

A well-established company in Dorchester is seeking an Accounts Assistant to support the Financial Controller with day-to-day financial operations. This hands-on role requires managing ledgers, performing reconciliations, and assisting with payroll and reporting in a fast-paced environment. Ideal candidates will hold AAT Level 4 and have 3-5 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years' experience in an assistant accountant or similar role.
  • Strong working knowledge of Sage 50 and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
  • Familiarity with financial systems, ledgers, and reconciliation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage sales and purchase ledgers.
  • Perform reconciliations and assist with payroll.
  • Contribute to financial reporting for projects.

This is a rare opportunity to join an established company located in Dorchester, Dorset. You will support the Financial Controller with the day-to-day financial operations of the business. The role includes responsibility for managing the sales and purchase ledgers, performing reconciliations, assisting with payroll, and contributing to statutory and project-related financial reporting. This is a hands-on, detail-oriented role in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

CV will show the following:

  • Qualified AAT Level 4 (or QBE to the same level).
  • 3–5 years' experience in an assistant accountant or similar role
  • Strong working knowledge of Sage 50 and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
  • Familiarity with standard financial systems, ledgers, and reconciliation procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Strong time management and organisational abilities.
  • Sage payroll experience (desirable).
  • Experience working with WIP an advantage.
  • Clear and confident communicator – both written and verbal.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively within a finance team.
