AR749 - Accounts AssistantLocation: CoventrySalary: £28,000 – £31,000 Overview:First Military Recruitment are currently searching for an Accounts Assistant on behalf of one of our clients.This individual will contribute to the smooth running of the business by supporting finance and general administration functions with a methodical and professional approach. The role requires excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritise tasks to ensure deadlines are met. The Accounts Assistant will liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal departments, and must communicate clearly and professionally to support daily operations.The postholder must be trustworthy, reliable, and discreet, with a high level of accuracy when handling financial information.
The key skills required for this role include, but are not limited to: working knowledge of accounting systems (specifically Sage), strong computer literacy (especially Excel), accurate data entry, and the ability to work as part of a small team.Our client strongly encourages applications from ex-military personnel but all candidates will be considered. Duties and Responsibilities:Process purchase invoices and maintain the purchase ledgerAssist with payroll processing and related admin tasksHMRC filing for VAT and real-time payrollMaintain the sales ledgerPerform bank reconciliations and assist with month-end reportingCarry out credit control and liaise with customers regarding overdue paymentsEnter and maintain financial records in the accounting systemMonitor supplier accounts and prepare payment runsHandle incoming calls, emails, and correspondence professionallyProvide general administrative support for the accounts functionCoordinate with other departments to ensure timely processing of orders and queriesSupport ad-hoc tasks as directed by the Directors or Office ManagerMaintain a clean, tidy, and organised office environmentAttend internal meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiativesIdentify and request training or support to aid personal developmentEnsure personal appearance and conduct align with company standardsMaintain a flexible attitude to support team workloads and company prioritiesProcess credit account applications for both customers and suppliersProcess expense claims and handle petty cashSkills and Qualifications:Previous experience in a similar accounts or admin roleStrong attention to detail and accuracyWorking knowledge of accounting systems (especially Sage)Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer literacyAbility to prioritise tasks and manage deadlinesStrong communication and interpersonal skillsTrustworthy, reliable, and discreetTeam player with a proactive and flexible approachDesirable:Formal qualifications in finance or administrationExperience with payroll processing and HMRC reportingExposure to small business operations and varied admin tasksLocation: CoventrySalary: £28,000 – £31,000
