A well-established consultancy in Barnstaple seeks an Accounts Assistant to manage accounts and assist in various financial responsibilities. This full-time, permanent role offers a dynamic working environment and opportunities for career growth. The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role and good IT skills, particularly in Sage Line 50. Excellent communication skills and knowledge of VAT and payroll are essential.

Accounts Assistant - Barnstaple - £28-34,000

Trial Balance Consulting are delighted to be working with a long-standing client, a business which has an excellent reputation for staff retention, to recruit an Accounts Assistant to join their team. This will be a varied, hands-on and busy role within a fast-paced environment which will be perfect for somebody who enjoys rolling up their sleeves.

No two days are the same, and you’ll be right at the heart of keeping everything running smoothly; from daily cash sheets to month-end reporting. This is a full time, permanent role operating out of the client’s Barnstaple office.

Responsibilities
  • Day-to-day banking and cash management
  • Reconciling accounts and preparing reports
  • Assisting with VAT returns, payroll input and intercompany transactions
  • Supporting the production of management accounts and year-end processes
  • Getting involved in ad-hoc finance tasks and projects to improve efficiency
Requirements

We’re looking for a candidate who possesses demonstrable experience in a similar role and is ideally AAT qualified, or working towards a professional qualification. Good IT skills, particularly in the use of Sage Line 50, is also desirable as is a working knowledge of VAT and payroll. The role will report into a Financial Accountant and works as part of a great team so excellent communication skills are a must!
