Accounting Technician x2
Permanent Position
Career Grade 10-20. Looking to appoint from Grade 11 up to Grade 20
- £24,404 - £31,586 per annum (depending on experience and qualifications)
37 hours per week
- FY 25/26 pay award pending
The Council is currently on an exciting journey with our Modern 25 programme which is now implementing a revised operating model, digital and people strategies alongside transforming other areas of the Council and its operations. A key part of the digital agenda is the upgrade of the finance system and Microsoft 365 technologies which provides an opportunity to explore how wider digital integration could be improved.
We are also looking to implement Finance Business Partnering whilst improving technical finance knowledge. These changes are designed to give you the tools to add real value.

We are seeking two proactive and confident Accounting Technicians for our career graded roles, which means you will have suitable experience alongside one of the following:
- nearing completion of you AAT qualification and obtaining MAAT status (from Grade 11)
- already AAT qualified and preferably a member of the AAT (from Grade 14)
- a part-qualified Chartered Accountant - CIPFA, ACCA, CIMA. ICAEW etc. (from Grade 16A)
Due to the nature of the work and the requirement to work with minimal supervision we are looking to appoint in the upper end of the career grade range Grade 11-20.
You will work closely with our Accountants, providing financial services to the internal clients drawing on experience of opex/revenue or capex/capital. There is also a requirement to support the wider team with core financial processes and the key technical work.

Therefore, you will be confident communicator, inquisitive, analytical and quick to pick up financial processes, accounting activities and new technologies. You will have experience of working in a busy office along with good IT skills and familiarity with Microsoft applications.

You are a good Teignbridge District Council fit if you:
- Have experience and a proven track record of working in a busy office in a Finance team.
- Are a team player but able to work independently when required.
- Are adaptable in picking up different finance duties and learning new accounting activities.
- Are confident in following processes and achieving task outcomes accurately and on time, in order to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Are self-motivated and a confident communicator.
- Are experienced at analysing financial data and are curious about what numbers are conveying.
