Nuclear Restoration Services Limited (NRS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). NRS is responsible for decommissioning first generation nuclear power stations Berkeley, Bradwell, Chapelcross, Dungeness A, Hinkley Point A, Hunterston A, Oldbury, Sizewell A, Trawsfynydd and Wylfa, and research sites Harwell and Winfrith. NRS is also responsible for electricity generation at hydroelectric plant Maentwrog. As a division of NRS, NRS Dounreay is responsible for the clean-up and demolition of the former centre of fast reactor research and development.

“As an Accounting Technician within our Treasury team, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of accurate and timely financial information. Reporting to the Treasury Accountant, you will be responsible for producing high-quality financial analysis, reconciliations, and reports that inform strategic decision-making across the business. Key Deliverables
- Demonstration of safety awareness through observations and keep up to date with current safety topics.
- Develop and continually improve areas of the finance function to better aid the company in simplification and integration
- Analyse ledger to ensure integrity
- Month end duties including journals and accruals as required
- Support management with data-driven analysis
- As a customer-focused individual, the post holder will be expected to support delivery within his or her range of skills, knowledge, experience and competence
- Support the effective deployment of company-wide policies, processes, systems and procedures ensuring that at all time the business remains compliant. - Strong Knowledge of Functional Finance Processes
- Exceptional verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build strong business relationships beyond the finance team, as well as ability to effectively manage the needs of multiple stakeholder groups.
- Experience working with systems integrators, consultants and other third parties.
- Support the delivery of effective and efficient accounting

- Aid with simplification and integration
- Accountable for company wide areas providing assistance and challenge across the company, to prevent or identify fraudulent activities, and communicating with external providers where necessary.
- Where problems are identified with processes that impact finance, investigate the problem, challenge current working methods and work with others within and outside of the function to find a resolution and implement.
- Responsible for ensuring International Accounting Standards are complied with across the company, highlighting and challenging any processes that are not followed and would cause harm to the Company
- Assist compiling company wide information for management to aid in decision making as well as for external organisations such as DEZNZ and Whole of Government Accounts.
- Providing information for ad hoc requests, investigating how best to provide this information in a format that could be understood by both financial people and non-financial people across the company
- Provide support in the wider Treasury process, while running the day-to-day processes to ensure bank transactions are correct and reconcile.
- Aid system improvement and drive Business World processes; collaborate with IT to ensure systems meet user requirements.
- Assist with internal controls and governance.
- Act a subject matter expert providing professional advice and guidance within own specialism.
Qualifications & Experience
- Little or no experience and working towards AAT qualification (SP 28)
- AAT Qualified or equivalent. Working towards becoming a Qualified Accountant (SP 34)
- Good understanding of the Company financial policies, procedure and standards
- Numerical background and experience of ERP systems
- Broad based knowledge of the Company’s Business systems
- Microsoft Office with good excel skills
- Demonstrable accounting experience of working in a central function of a multi-site business (SP 34)

SP28 (Little or no experience and working towards AAT qualification) -£35,921 - £41,081
SP34 (AAT Qualified or equivalent. Working towards becoming a Qualified Accountant) -£42,224 - £49,046

- The equivalent of 25 days (185 hours per year) annual leave plus Public Holidays (59.2 hours per year). This increases by 2 days (14.8 hours per year) annual leave after two full calendar years of service (as at 5th January in the leave year) , and an additional 3 days (22.2 hours per year) annual leave after five full calendar years of service (as at 5th January in the leave year). You also have the option to buy or sell the equivalent of 5 days (37 hours) annual leave each year (available in specific windows for the following holiday year). For the purpose of assessing an employee’s annual leave entitlement, a day means seven and two fifths (7.4) hours. A pro rata entitlement will apply for part time workers.
