Job description

Accounting Manager, UK (Remote)

We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee our day-to-day accounting operations, manage month-end processes, and ensure accurate financial reporting in compliance with UK GAAP and IFRS. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced SaaS environment and enjoys building efficient processes that scale.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Own the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and prepayments.
  2. Liaise with external auditors and support the year-end audit process.
  3. Oversee payroll accounting and manage related compliance filings (e.g., PAYE, P11D) in collaboration with HR and external providers.
  4. Manage the day-to-day accounts payable and employee expense processes with support from junior staff.
  5. Ensure timely and accurate VAT filings and other tax compliance obligations.
  6. Implement and maintain internal controls and process improvements across the finance function, including documenting processes and accounting policies.
  7. Manage ad hoc projects (e.g., cross-functional process improvements, M&A integration, system implementation).
What you’ll bring to the role
  • Fully qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)
  • Proficient in NetSuite accounting software
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a managerial role (preferably for a remote team)
  • Experience preparing statutory accounts under UK GAAP and/or IFRS
  • Familiarity with tax compliance (e.g., VAT, corporation tax)
  • Hands-on experience processing UK payroll and ensuring compliance with statutory filings and deadlines
  • A solid understanding of internal control design and operational efficiency
  • High attention to detail, strong analytical mindset, and a proactive approach to problem solving
Nice to have
  • SaaS or technology sector background
  • Exposure to multi-entity or multi-currency operations, including international intercompany transactions and consolidated management reports and financial statements
  • Knowledge of ESG, R&D tax credits, or transfer pricing
