RSM’s Finance Function Support (FFS) team is a leading market focused business, providing corporate accounting services to national and multinational corporations, with a focus on helping them to remain compliant and providing insights to their operations. The Private Business finance support team provides a comprehensive range of services to its clients, which primarily include bookkeeping, preparation of periodic management accounts, and preparation and submission of VAT returns.

We are looking for an Assistant to join our Accounting, Insight and Advisory team in our Bristol, Reading, Guildford, Milton Keynes or Leicester offices. As an Assistant, you will act as the preparer on a portfolio of clients, producing management accounting information for manager review and ensuring the smooth running of the finance function.

The role will require that you report into the team management and work alongside client staff to develop a working relationship.

Responsibilities
  • General bookkeeping for clients, including processing of data on several accounting software packages.
  • Preparing management accounts under supervision to required standard, ensuring files are prepared and documented with sufficient evidence for review.
  • Preparing and reviewing VAT returns.
  • Recognising when information provided by the client is incomplete and inaccurate and take steps to rectify this.

  • Fully qualified AAT or minimum 5 years QBE.
  • Experience of working in a professional practice, ideally in an equivalent Finance function support team.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills and adhering strictly to client reporting deadlines.
  • Proficient in the use of IT including MS Excel, Outlook, Teams and cloud based accounting packages (including Xero), and aptitude for learning new systems.
