A well-established company based in Harpenden is looking to hire an Accounting Client Manager to join their growing team. The firm works with a broad mix of clients, including UK-based SMEs and international businesses, and is known for its collaborative and forward-thinking approach.

This is an office-based role (Monday-Friday, 9:00-5:30), paying up to £50k, though part-time arrangements may be considered. You'll be stepping into a hands-on role where you'll manage a portfolio of clients, review technical work, identify tax and growth opportunities, and act as a key point of contact.

The right person will bring solid experience working in a practice setting, enjoy working directly with clients, and feel confident reviewing accounts, leading conversations, and mentoring more junior staff. If you're looking for a step up into a more client-facing and strategic position, this role offers that progression within a supportive team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage your own portfolio of SME clients, acting as their key point of contact
  • Review year-end statutory accounts and ensure technical accuracy
  • Review management accounts and provide meaningful commentary
  • Spot opportunities for tax planning and business growth
  • Ensure all work meets compliance standards and internal deadlines
  • Oversee and support the work of junior and offshore team members
  • Help drive internal improvements to systems and processes
  • Stay up to date with relevant accounting and tax regulations
Requirements:
  • Practice experience reviewing accounts and managing client relationships
  • Part-qualified/finalist (ACCA/ACA) or qualified by experience
  • Commercially minded with a proactive, problem-solving approach
  • Confident with cloud-based software (Xero, QuickBooks, Iris, etc.)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to lead client conversations
  • Exposure to UK or UAE tax or property tax is helpful, but not essential
