Northwood is currently accepting applications for an Accounting Clerk.

Reporting to the Coordinator, Accounting

Major Responsibilities

  • Responsible to verify submitted time from mobile device for payroll processing, internal timesheets, process client invoices and payments, assist with the review and management of accounts, and to maintain accurate record keeping for all financial transactions

Tasks

  • Audits and reviews for employees based on the collective agreements with the Northwood Homecare employees; Compares and batch verifies Mobility data and scheduling in Procura for accuracy
  • Monitors staff travel expenses, top-up expenses, vacation and sick adjustments
  • Processes internal timesheets for office staff in Procura and submits mileage sheets
  • Helps prepare and distribute invoices, payments and yearly tax letters for multiple departments on monthly and timely basis
  • Runs monthly arrears reports following procedure guidelines
  • Maintains accurate record keeping for all transactions
  • Acts as a backup for other accounting positions in the organization, displaying knowledge of all aspects of these positions
  • Demonstrates a high level of confidentiality due to access to client information, employee information, vendor information, and stake holder transactions
  • Provides excellent customer service in dealing with employee and client billing
  • Investigates taxi chits monthly and sends letter to HSW Supervisors when employees are abusing the taxi policy
  • Maintains, reconciles and replenishes petty cash for Headquarters
  • Performs other duties as required

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess The Following Qualifications

  • Graduate of a recognized business school with a knowledge of accounting, or a minimum of Grade 12
  • Minimum of 2 or more years of recent accounting experience preferred
  • Excellent keyboarding skills
  • Must be able to work under minimal supervision
  • Cash handling experience
  • Knowledge/Experience of the following: Customer Service, Accounting
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Excel) and Accounting Software
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication
  • Ability to:
    • Pay close attention to detail
    • Work with confidential information
    • Demonstrate good time management and multitask
  • Ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis within Northwood’s standards
Salary: As per Northwood Scale

Hours/Shifts: 80 hours bi-weekly

Start Date: June 30th 2025 or sooner

Location: Dartmouth, Corporate Office
