Job Description:
Overall job purpose
You will be a key member of the growing financial reporting advisory national team, focusing on clients within the London and Southern region. As an assistant manager, you will support the wider team and assist managers in delivering work across a portfolio of corporate clients, emphasizing technical accounting, financial reporting, and consolidations. This includes applying accounting standards under FRS 102, IFRS, and FRS 101, group reconstructions, accounting considerations, conversion to different GAAPs, technical accounting papers, and acquisition accounting support. The role also involves preparing and/or managing statutory accounts under IFRS and FRS 101.
The department's fast growth offers opportunities to develop skills in business development and coaching junior staff. It also provides the chance to work with colleagues and businesses across the UK and support your local office. A strong understanding of UK GAAP and IFRS is essential. Since financial reporting advisory projects typically involve reports, good report writing skills are also required.
Responsibilities
- Supporting managers in delivering complex accounting projects, such as IFRS transition, acquisition accounting, and complex consolidations.
- Maintaining advanced technical knowledge through reading, courses, and CPD requirements, including awareness of the firm’s publications and services.
- Acting as a primary contact with clients, communicating issues to managers or partners, and suggesting solutions.
- Managing a portfolio of clients and projects, including client care, project management, and WIP/billing.
- Collaborating with other departments, especially audit and tax teams, to meet deadlines and resolve issues.
- Coaching junior staff and participating in training and supervision; line management opportunities may be available based on experience.
- Willingness to travel to client sites; most work is office-based.
Personal and professional qualities
The role requires:
- ACA qualification or equivalent.
- Experience in UK GAAP and IFRS financial reporting.
- Experience in professional practice or providing written accounting advice.
- Strong understanding of UK financial reporting requirements.
- Commercial awareness and value addition.
- Project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Client interaction experience.
- Supervision of junior staff experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
