SRM Recruitment are supporting one of London's most prestigious private property/real estate groups to recruit an Accountant (ACCA, ACA or perhaps AAT qualified) to join their trustee office.

This is not a trust "technical" role (more technical structuring arrangements for the trustee office itself and advisory work will remain outsourced) moreover the desire is for an accountant to join that has a broad skill-set but is designed to bring some of the most monthly/quarterly accounting responsibilities back "in house". Our client currently utilises Excel for their reporting but there is a desire to implement a more sophisticated accounting software package in time, as such you will be comfortable with core accounting fundamentals (double entry etc).

The trustee office oversees a number of settlements including the main settlement (multi-billion value), several complex subsidiary companies and partnerships. Prior experience in working with trusts isn't expected, but an interest in committing and building a career in a family office orientated finance role would be.

We would expect that this could interest a qualified accountant (could also be AAT qualified) working in a small/mid-tier practice firm operating across audit (even though this role doesn't have complex financial statement preparation responsibilities), outsourced accounting work, and perhaps tax/trust technical.

The role will support the Head of Trustee Office in fulfilling their responsibilities to the main beneficiaries, the Trustees, and Directors.

  • Assisting with the coordination of documents for execution by the Trustees and others where necessary.
  • Assisting with payment entry of administrative expenses of the Trust Office and Trustees.
  • Assisting with the cyclical accounting requirements (cash-flow forecasting for example) of the Trusts and corporate entities.
  • Maintaining the investment ledgers.
  • Assisting with company secretarial duties for the various corporate entities.
  • Assisting with maintaining invoice logs.
  • Document management i.e. uploading documents to the data-room, downloading bank statements and investment portfolio reports.
  • Assisting the Head of Trustee Office with projects e.g. the potential future implementation of accounting software.
  • Any other ad-hoc duties required to ensure the smooth running of the Trust Office.
  • Family Office administrative assistance to family members as required.

To be considered you will be/have:

  • A qualified accountant (AAT, ACA, ACCA) with a broad base of finance experience perhaps gained from a practice environment, with exposure covering outsourced accounts work and perhaps exposure to family office or trust accounting.
  • Strong excel experience - which is used for all monthly reporting.
  • Sound fundamental accounting experience, areas such as double entry for example.
  • A desire to work in a small, but very well formed team.
  • Good oral and written communication skills with an ability to engage with advisers (lawyers, banks, accountants, and asset managers) and family members with professionalism and discretion.

Our client is based in prestigious offices in Central London and would expect the successful candidate to work from the office four days per week.

Salary is dependent on experience gained to date, circa £55-65,000 + benefits.
