Accountant, Student Housing – your role

The Accountant, Student Housing will report to the Finance Director with a dotted reporting line to the Director, Student Housing. YourTRIBE is a dynamic and growing business, and the Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial operations of the YourTRIBE portfolio, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance with financial regulations, and efficient financial management. The role involves overseeing accounts payable/receivable, preparing financial statements, budgeting, and providing financial insights to support strategic decision-making.

The role will require someone with strong analytical skills, a good understanding of control environments, attention to detail and a focus on achieving deadlines. Excellent communication skills are required, as attending meetings and liaising with colleagues external 3rd party providers are important aspects of the role. An approach to continuous improvement and the ability to harness a working environment which encourages teamwork, energy and creativity are a must.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES

Principal Accountabilities

1.Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
  • Analyse financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost optimization.
  • Assist in preparing annual budgets and forecasts for PBSA operations.

2.Compliance & Audit

  • Ensure compliance with local financial regulations and tax laws.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.

3.Operational Support & Management

·To review and implement new processes to deliver reporting and administration efficiencies.

·Provide variance analysis and commentary by working with the sales and operational teams to ensure accurate reporting.

·Collaborate with property management teams to monitor cash flows and financial performance.

·Support the implementation of property management software for streamlined financial operations.

  • Provide financial advice and support to stakeholders, including management and investors.

Qualifications / Key Competencies

  • A qualified Accountant, ACCA, ACA, CIMA or QBE with 5+ years of relevant management accounts experience and team management experience.
  • Proven experience in accounting, preferably within the real estate or PBSA sector.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or property management platforms).
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and financial modelling.
  • Attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
