A leading construction company in the UK is seeking an experienced Accountant to lead a finance team for the Sizewell C project. The role involves financial reporting, budgeting, and stakeholder support. Ideal candidates are part-qualified in CIMA or ACCA, with strong Excel skills and experience in interpreting financial data. This position offers a competitive salary and the opportunity to work on one of the UK's key clean energy projects.
As part of Bouygues Construction's Public Works division, VSL International participates in the construction of major technical structures and guarantees their structural safety and durability: transport infrastructure (bridges, tunnels), industrial and energy production structures, and commercial buildings.
VSL has 4,000 employees at 25 locations worldwide (Asia and Oceania, Middle East, Europe, Latin America, Canada).
Sizewell C is at the heart of the UK’s clean energy revolution. This landmark nuclear power station in Suffolk will provide low-carbon electricity for millions of homes and play a vital role in achieving the UK’s net zero targets. Supported by EDF and the UK Government, Sizewell C is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to deliver sustainable energy infrastructure at scale.
We are responsible for a range of specialist ground engineering works, including deep soil mixing, plastic cut-off walls, embankments, and load transfer platforms — all of which form essential enabling works for the main power station.
We are seeking an Accountant to lead a small team of part-qualified finance professionals and take responsibility for delivering accurate, timely, and compliant financial results for VSL’s scope of work at Sizewell C.
This role combines financial reporting, forecasting, and analysis with stakeholder support, ensuring that site management teams are provided with clear insights to make informed decisions. You will oversee the production of monthly accounts, budget reforecasts, and key financial indicators, while proactively identifying risks, efficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
Ideally CIMA or ACCA part-qualified, or working towards qualification.
Strong foundation in management accounts and financial analysis.
Proven experience in preparing and interpreting financial information to support decision-making.
Knowledge of contractual finance and commercial claims advantageous.
Excellent Excel skills; experience with SAP or other ERP systems is an advantage.
Strong data analysis and reporting skills with attention to detail.
Proactive, organised, and able to work independently with initiative.
Strong communication skills with confidence to challenge assumptions and present recommendations.
Flexible, adaptable, and willing to travel to multiple sites.
Leadership qualities with the ability to mentor and motivate a small team.
Impactful Role: Help to mobilise the workforce delivering one of the UK’s most important clean energy projects.
Career Development: Gain hands-on recruitment experience with opportunities to grow into broader HR or talent acquisition roles.
Guidance & Mentorship: Work closely with the Recruitment Manager and benefit from direct support and development.
Community Impact: Play a role in meeting Sizewell C’s commitments to local employment and apprenticeships.
