Job summary

Vanilla Recruitment is recruiting an Accountant for an established accountancy practice in Market Harborough. The role offers ownership of your own client portfolio within a small, friendly team.

You will prepare year-end accounts, VAT and taxes while using cloud platforms such as Xero, QuickBooks or Sage. This part-time role is 25 hours per week with pro-rata holidays, pension and study support, plus free car parking.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 3 AAT qualification.
• Experience in an accountancy practice in a similar role.
• Knowledge of bookkeeping principles and UK tax.
• Familiarity with cloud accounting platforms such as Xero/QuickBooks/Sage.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Detail-oriented with deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare year-end statutory accounts for limited companies, partnerships and sole traders.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns using cloud-based MTD-compliant software.
• Completion of personal and corporation tax work.
• Bookkeeping tasks including posting transactions, maintaining ledgers and completing bank reconciliations.
• Gather client records, following up on missing information and resolving basic queries.
• Maintaining accurate working papers and ensuring deadlines are met.

We're currently recruiting an Accountant for an established accountancy practice based in Market Harborough. This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone with practice experience to join a small, friendly team and take ownership of their own client portfolio.

• £34,000 - £38,000 (pro-rata)
• 25 hours per week Monday to Friday
• 20 days holiday plus bank holidays (pro-rata)

Duties and responsibilities:

• Preparation of year-end statutory accounts for limited companies, partnerships and sole traders

Required skills and experience:

• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to work to deadlines
• Proactive approach with a willingness to learn and take on increasing responsibility
