Accountant – Fundraising and Legacies
Job Location: UK Flexible (hybrid working, occasional working from office if required)
Salary: £44,680 to £47,691 (plus London Weighting, £3,344, if applicable) per annum
35 Hours per week
Contract Type: Permanent

Could you manage and oversee the financial aspects of an organisation, ensuring accuracy, compliance with accounting standards, and providing timely and relevant financial information?

Could you maintain the financial health and integrity of the organisation, assist strategic decision-making, and meet regulatory requirements?

We are looking for a diligent and methodical Accountant to manage the financial processing and reporting of the Fundraising and Legacy directorate. This role is primarily focused on core accounting duties, including income recognition, reconciliations, and financial controls, ensuring accuracy and compliance with charity accounting standards. Previous experience working with Fundraising teams or Legacies is preferable but not essential.

The Income Generation team work across the UK. We have a number of local offices. We're happy to be flexible with where you're based.

A day in the life of our Accountant (Fundraising and Legacies) will involve:

  • Working within established systems to deliver specified outcomes or provide general assistance within a specialised area of audit control.
  • Managing a portfolio of audit assignments. Ensuring that the team plans and delivers audits that cover identified risk areas and that appropriate corrective actions are agreed on.
  • Maintaining a deep knowledge and insight of the organisation's policies and procedures and of relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct.
  • Collating and analysing data using pre-set tools, methods, and formats. Involves working autonomously.
  • Contributing to the development and delivery of financial policies, guidelines, and protocols to ensure the company complies with regulations and good financial practice.
  • Providing specialist advice on the interpretation and application of policies and procedures, resolving queries and issues.

What will an Accountant (Fundraising and Legacies) need to be successful?

  • Fully qualified accountant (or qualified by experience).
  • Familiar with FRS102 and charity accounting.
  • Proven ability to ensure attention to detail and financial integrity.
  • In depth knowledge of identifying any risks associated with financial systems, to propose controls or actions to mitigate such risks, and to monitor such controls.
  • Adept in providing internal stakeholders with knowledgeable, helpful advice and guidance on financial issues.
  • Experience of effectively communicating with internal and external stakeholders to deliver timely information.
  • Maintenance of organisational and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience of challenging assumptions on financial issues where appropriate.
