We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant cum Payroll Administrator to join our team in Canary Wharf. This dual-role position combines hands-on accounting duties with end-to-end payroll administration for our clients across various sectors.

Key Responsibilities
Accounting Responsibilities:
  • Prepare working papers, annual accounts, and statutory accounts (FRS 105 & FRS 102A) for sole traders, SMEs, partnerships, and limited companies.
  • Prepare and submit Corporation Tax returns for small companies and assist with personal tax computations.
  • Manage bookkeeping and process journals for clients.
  • Review and submit VAT returns under MTD regulations.
  • Assist with finalising accounts and VAT returns for sole traders, companies, and partnerships.
  • Support client billing processes and maintain up-to-date financial records.
  • Liaise with HMRC and handle AMLS compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with the accounts team and share technical knowledge to support team development.
Payroll Responsibilities:
  • Process weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payrolls for multiple clients.
  • Manage PAYE, NIC, pensions, holiday pay, and statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP).
  • Administer auto-enrolment pension schemes and contributions.
  • Handle starters, leavers, P45s, P60s, and P11Ds.
  • Ensure timely RTI submissions and compliance with HMRC payroll regulations.
  • Prepare payroll reports and address client queries.
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified or part-qualified with at least 3–5 years of experience in an accountancy practice.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on payroll experience, ideally within an accountancy firm or bureau.
  • Proficient in accounting and payroll software such as VT, Xero, Sage Payroll, BrightPay, Payroll Manager, and MS Excel.
  • Strong understanding of UK accounting principles, tax regulations, and payroll legislation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong client-service orientation.
  • Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and time management skills.
