Job summary

Arthur & Gate is a trusted accountancy practice based in Newport, serving businesses and individuals across South Wales, and committed to helping clients succeed.

We are looking for a motivated accountant, qualified or part-qualified, to join our growing Newport team, manage your own client portfolio and build your future with us.

You will prepare accounts, VAT returns and tax filings, liaise with clients, support junior staff, and enjoy full study support and career progression.

Qualifications

• Part-qualified or qualified AAT, ACCA, or ACA
• Experienced in a UK accountancy practice
• Confident with bookkeeping and year-end accounts
• Experienced in preparing VAT returns and statutory accounts
• Proficient in Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks
• Good with Excel
• Friendly, clear communicator who enjoys client contact

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of clients across various sectors
• Prepare accounts for limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships
• Prepare and submit VAT returns
• Prepare personal and corporate tax computations
• Assist with management accounts preparation
• Liaise directly with clients to resolve queries and provide advice
• Support and review work of junior team members
• Ensure compliance with HMRC deadlines and practice standards
