About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical individual to join our team as an Accountant. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will coordinate the production of financial data to meet business needs and manage subsidiaries. You will ensure timely, high-quality reporting, planning, and control of business processes, along with other departmental duties.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with understanding main business areas such as staff transactions, overheads, and subsidiaries.
• Support purchase ledger, subcontract ledger, sales ledger, expenses, and credit card processes.
• Provide comprehensive accounting support to the Finance Manager and Management Accountant.
• Review and report monthly financial results.
• Prepare and process journals, ensuring correct ledger allocation.
• Assist in budget and forecast preparation for cost centers and departments.
• Help produce monthly management accounts in line with standards for all group companies.
• Liaise with operational and departmental managers.
• Support the development and improvement of finance processes, systems, and policies.
• Assist with VAT returns and CIS submissions per HMRC regulations.
• Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
• Develop accrual and pre-payment schedules, reconciling with general ledger balances.
• Maintain effective financial control over overhead costs.
• Mentor and support junior finance team members.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of accounting experience in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics and Jet Reports is advantageous.
