Job summary

Octopus Energy Group is seeking a hands-on, qualified accountant to join the financial control team. You will support scalable improvement and automation of financial processes, maintain robust controls, and work on end-to-end improvements in asset financing and related reconciliations.

You will drive month-end tasks, balance sheet accuracy, and collaborate with stakeholders and funders to diagnose root causes and implement lasting fixes.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • Experience using Netsuite and advanced Excel.
  • Experience in scale-up / high-transaction environment.
  • Experience in a finance team.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and drive new processes to remove repetitive tasks and create efficiencies.
  • Implement automation with AI as appropriate.
  • Perform reconciliations and resolve variances promptly.
  • Month end reporting, including journals and financial analysis.
  • Tracking and reporting on vehicles purchased weekly.
  • Resolve reconciliation issues with Finance Operations.
  • Manage creditor and debtor ledgers and handle payments/receipts inquiries.

We're looking for a hands-on, result focused qualified accountant to work with the financial control team to support the scalable improvement and automation of financial processes whilst maintaining robust financial controls in our rapidly growing electric vehicle leasing business.

You will be working with the financial control team to perform and support the development and automation of financial processes that include; day-to-day asset and asset financial reconciliations, financial management and reporting and other month-end tasks.

You'll drive end-to-end process improvement across our operational accounting related to asset financing and treatment, timely balance sheet accuracy and broader business operations. Identifying inefficiencies and re-engineering how things work, not just keeping them running. This includes overhauling the bank posting and asset financing reconciliation processes to build a more robust, scalable framework; supporting monthly balance sheet reconciliation; and analyzing variances whilst partnering with the team, wider business, and funders to diagnose root causes and embed lasting fixes.

We need someone that has a great eye for detail, is self-driven to own accounts and processes, is able to automate processes using large data sets and assist with other improvements in a fast growing business.

What you'll do...

  • Work closely with our Finance Operations team to resolve reconciliation issues
  • Manage creditor and debtor ledgers and deal with any queries regarding payments or receipts
What you'll need...
