Accountant

Location: Harrogate, North Yorkshire

Salary: GBP35,000 to GBP45,000 DOE

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm or part-time within school hours

We re recruiting an Accountant on behalf of a well-established accountancy practice based in central Harrogate. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced practice professional to join a supportive and growing team, offering long-term career progression and development.

Responsibilities of the Accountant role:

• Manage a portfolio of clients, overseeing their accounting, VAT, and corporation tax requirements

• Prepare financial statements, VAT returns, and corporation tax submissions for partner review

• Liaise directly with HMRC and other regulatory bodies

• Provide support and advice to clients using cloud-based systems such as Xero

• Identify opportunities to enhance client services and contribute to business development

• Mentor and manage a small team

Key requirements:

• Previous experience working within an accountancy practice

• Strong account preparation experience and understanding of VAT and corporation tax

• Proficient in Xero and cloud-based accounting systems

• Organised and detail-oriented with excellent communication skills

• Comfortable liaising with a variety of clients and managing relationships
