Job summary

ACCA Careers is seeking a hands-on Financial Controller for a fast-growth SaaS business based in Ulverston, Lake District. The role covers day-to-day financial control across group entities, including bank, ledgers, reconciliations, intercompany, accruals and prepayments.

The role will drive a robust monthly close with management accounts and commentary, prepare cash flow forecasts, and support VAT, payroll, corporation tax, and statutory reporting.

Qualifications

• ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualification or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards and tax regulations.
• Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day financial control across the group entities, including bank, ledger, balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany, accruals and prepayments.
• Drive a robust monthly close, with clear management accounts and commentary at department, entity, and consolidated level.
• Prepare consolidated cash flow forecasts and support active cash management to optimise interest earned across the group.
• Prepare monthly management accounts for the leadership team, including KPI and variance analysis.
• Perform detailed review of transactions at the department and general ledger level, identifying variances from the budget and prior actuals.
• Support UK and international VAT returns, payroll filings, corporation tax workings and statutory reporting at entity and group level.
• Partner with non-finance teams as a trusted source of commercial insight, helping operational leaders read their numbers and make better-informed decisions.

This is a hands-on financial control role at a pivotal moment for the business. My client are preparing for their first statutory audit under a new group structure, and that brings additional reporting, control and disclosure requirements that need experienced hands behind them.

Role will be predominantly site-based with some flexibility - ability to get to the offices is essential.

• Strong communication skills to liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
