ACCOUNTANT - Full Time, Permanent
Based at Central Office / Hybrid
We're looking for a qualified and diligent Accountant to join our Central Services team at Hillsong Church UK. This full-time role plays a key part in the Finance Team, supporting our church's financial operations with accuracy, insight and care. You'll work closely with our Finance Manager to manage reporting, budgets, general ledger accuracy, and month-end processes.
This role is ideal for someone with strong technical knowledge, a heart for the local church, and a desire to steward resources with excellence.
Some of the key responsibilities include:
Accounts Payable & Treasury
- Oversee and support the day-to-day accounts payable function with the Accounts Officer
- Monitor purchase ledger accuracy and payment timelines
- Prepare weekly treasury reports and monthly KPI data
Income & Donations
- Analyse donation income streams and reconcile with third-party data
- Support accounts receivable and manage invoicing records
- Provide management reporting and trend analysis
General Ledger & Month-End
- Maintain accuracy in coding and ledger structure
- Reconcile cost-related balance sheet accounts
- Assist with journal entries, bank reconciliations, and variance analysis
Gift Aid & VAT
- Oversee fortnightly Gift Aid submissions and reporting
- Collate data and prepare quarterly VAT returns
Systems & Processes
- Manage IRIS system setup and user support
- Support expense and invoice submissions through Concur
- Monitor credit card usage and ensure adherence to policy
- Maintain banking system best practices and procedures
Audit & Financial Improvement
- Assist with audit preparation and statutory accounts
- Lead on improving systems and implementing new processes
Additional tasks may be assigned during conferences and church events.
We're looking for someone who has:
- A personal commitment to Jesus and the vision of Hillsong Church
- A heart for stewardship and excellence in church finance
- Part-qualified accounting status (AAT Level or above preferred)
- Experience working in a professional finance environment
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial systems
- Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets
- High attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a team-player attitude
- Confidence using IRIS and Concur (preferred but not essential)
