Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Support senior managers in the operational delivery of an area of the overall Service, ensuring its sound running within Council Policy and the medium term financial position of the Council.
• Contribute to ensuring that the Council's processes and procedures reflect strategies, deliver value for money and promote effective financial management.
• Monitor the financial position/impacts of the areas responsible for, ensuring issues are identified and escalated for resolution.

Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy Local Authority based in Southeast London, are looking for an experienced Accountant to join their team and play a crucial role in their Finance Directorate.

Position: Accountant Rate: £25 per hour (Umbrella) Contract Duration: Temp (April 2027) Possible Extension Working Arrangement: Hybrid

Purpose:

• The role provides knowledge and expertise in the Accountancy environment and support to managers within the services and across the Council, ensuring that the Statutory Section 151 responsibility is met. It contributes to a culture of continuing professional development existing within these areas.

Job Responsibilities:

• To support senior managers in the operational delivery of an area of the overall Service, ensuring its sound running within Council Policy and the medium term financial position of the Council.
• To contribute, as required to ensuring that the Council's processes and procedures are continuously reviewed and updated to reflect the strategies, promote effective financial management and deliver value for money.
• To monitor the financial position/impacts of the areas responsible for, ensuring that any issues that affect the financial position of the Council are identified, and brought to the attention of the responsible officers for resolution.

Job Requirements:
