Job summary

Cruinn Consulting is seeking a hands-on Financial Accountant for a 6‑month fixed-term contract in Ayrshire, Scotland, with hybrid or on-site options. You will own day-to-day financial controls, balance sheet integrity, and management reporting for multi-unit operations.

Ideally you are fully qualified (ICAS/ACCA/CIMA/ACA) or QBE, with strong ERP and advanced Excel skills, and solid UK GAAP knowledge. Availability to start immediately or on short notice is preferred.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified (ICAS, ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or qualified by experience (QBE) with demonstrable experience in a similar role.
• Experience in logistics, haulage, maritime, engineering, construction, or asset‑intensive operations is advantageous.
• Strong ERP software competency and advanced Microsoft Excel skills (vlookups, sumifs, pivot tables, financial modeling).
• Solid knowledge of UK GAAP.

Responsibilities

• Management Reporting: Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, variance analysis, and operational cost breakdowns for fleet, plant, and port operations.
• Balance Sheet Control: Conduct robust month‑end balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, and fixed asset accounting (heavy plant, machinery, and fleet assets).
• Cash Flow & Working Capital: Assist with rolling cash flow forecasting, treasury monitoring, and supplier payment cycles.
• Compliance & Statutory Requirements: Ensure compliance with statutory returns, VAT submissions, and PAYE/CIS where applicable.
• Process Improvement: Review and streamline accounting workflows, cost‑allocation methods, and operational reporting to support commercial decision‑making.
• Audit & Year-End Support: Prepare audit schedules and liaise with external stakeholders and auditors as required.

About the Client

Candidate Requirements

• Qualification: Fully qualified (ICAS, ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or qualified by experience (QBE) with demonstrable experience in a similar role.
• Industry Background: Previous experience within logistics, haulage, maritime, engineering, construction, or asset‑intensive operations is highly advantageous.
• Technical Skills: Strong ERP software competency, advanced Microsoft Excel skills (vlookups, sumifs, pivot tables, financial modeling), and solid knowledge of UK GAAP.
• Hands‑on Approach: Proactive self‑starter comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within a busy operational finance environment.
• Availability: Available immediately or on short notice to commit to the full 6-month term.
