Accountant

JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is looking for an Accountant to join our busy finance team in Aberdeen, Scotland. We will consider those who are already at Accountant level or Associate level and are looking to take the next step in their career. This position can be offered on a flexible hybrid basis.

Job Objective:

To ensure all accounting entries within the individual's area of control (i.e., project, contract, service line) are recorded accurately and promptly. This involves providing timely financial data reports internally to business stakeholders and externally to clients. Additionally, financial reporting will include forecasts, budgets, and a "no surprises" outlook, along with ad-hoc financial analysis. In some cases, this role may involve managing a small team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

1. Ensure that all accounting entries are prepared accurately and in accordance with corporate deadlines.
2. Prepare invoices timely and in line with the contractual terms.
3. Report and analyze results accurately, including calculating billing and cost rates, and analyzing margins to manage profitability.
4. Assist in the preparation of the annual plan and quarterly reforecasts in collaboration with Business Management and Finance teams.
5. Ensure compliance with the Financial Management Framework within your sphere of control.
6. Focus on cash collection, optimizing DSO, minimizing unbilled items, and ensuring these balance sheet areas are properly reconciled, analyzed, and controlled.
7. Liaise with external, internal, and client auditors.
8. Coordinate with business managers and contracts administrators regarding contractual matters.
9. Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and tasks as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications:

• Further education through College or University with a recognized accounting qualification.
• Preference for candidates working towards CIMA / ACCA / CPA or equivalent.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

• Relevant accounting experience.
• Proficiency in Excel.
• People supervision skills.
• Strong commercial knowledge.
• Experience with systems such as Oracle or Hyperion.
