Job Title: Business Development Manager Welding & Compressed Air Equipment

Industry Sector: Automotive, Agricultural, Engineering, Construction, Compressed Air, Welding, Power Equipment, Woodworking, Heaters and Industrial Equipment

Areas to be covered: West Midlands & South West (area includes all postcodes that are south and west of TF, WS, WV, B, CV, GL, SN, SP, and BH)

Remuneration: £35,000-£40,000 Neg. + discretionary bonus (typically 12-15%)

Benefits: £400 car allowance or fully expensed plug-in hybrid car & benefits package

The role involves:

  • Field sales, selling a range of high-quality transformer-based welding and compressed air equipment
  • Managing a portfolio of over 1,300 products including welding, metalworking, air compressors, tools, automotive equipment, heaters, generators, pressure washers, water pumps, woodworking equipment, etc.
  • Selling to trade retail customers who sell to end users in automotive, agriculture, engineering, or construction sectors
  • Managing approximately 65 active accounts with a turnover of over £20,000 each
  • Revenue responsibility of circa £1.6m, with 75% from managed accounts
  • Conducting 2-3 customer visits per day, four days a week, with team meetings every Friday
  • Primarily account management and development, maximizing existing relationships

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven B2B field sales experience in sectors like automotive, engineering, agricultural, or construction
  • Knowledge of welding, metalworking, air compressors, automotive equipment, or similar products (training provided)
  • Experience in selling to trade retail customers
  • Strong account management and relationship-building skills
  • Track record of growing large accounts
  • Willingness to travel with occasional overnight stays
  • Evidence of sales success and account development
  • CRM experience and strong presentation skills
