Job description

VANRATH are assisting in the recruitment of an Account Manager for a manufacturing/engineering organisation. The organisation has had constant growth, and the successful candidate would join a part-of-the-future organisation.

Remuneration:

£35,000 - £40,000 (may go higher for an excellent fit) + bonus

Responsibilities:

  • Take an active role in marketing initiatives and driving business development opportunities to expand the customer base.
  • Liaise regularly with clients via meetings and other communication methods to independently build and sustain strong commercial relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with all organisational procedures and policies, including those relating to health & safety, quality, and the environment.
  • Support the Sales Manager in reaching commercial targets by aligning daily tasks with broader business goals.
  • Coordinate the preparation, delivery, and tracking of quotations to ensure timely responses and accurate follow-up.
  • Promote a clean, safe working environment and contribute to workplace improvement programmes, such as 5S and continuous improvement.
  • Regularly monitor customer accounts, reporting progress on areas like deliveries, schedules, tooling, invoicing, and payment status.
  • Take part in collaborative efforts, sharing insights and supporting cross-departmental initiatives to enhance efficiency.
  • Maintain awareness of the full trading process from production and logistics to finance, to ensure high service levels are upheld.
  • Gather market intelligence, including competitor and customer data, and share relevant insights with internal teams to support both profitability and customer service.
  • Continuously review and enhance sales-related processes for increased effectiveness.

Essential Criteria:

  • Educated to Engineering HNC/HND/ Degree level
  • Previous experience in a technical environment (ideally sales)
  • Proven track record of delivering creative solutions to overcome obstacles and enhance profitability
  • Flexible to travel a few times per year

Desired Criteria:

  • Mechanical Engineering background
  • Automotive experience
