Account Manager – Surgical Sales (Northern Ireland)

The purpose of the role is to represent Alcon in Surgical Accounts and execution. In this role, you will be responsible for sales growth by ensuring strong customer relationships, pull-through of IOLs and cataract consumables, lead generation and identification for Alcon equipment, supporting stock management and product availability issues, as well as ensuring invoicing/contract follow-up.

As an Account Manager – Surgical Sales, you will support hospitals, particularly surgical & theatre departments, and will be trusted to initiate sales and educational opportunities across Northern Ireland. A typical day will include:
- Achieving total Alcon sales performance in the territory
- Being the key owner over sales and market share of the Total Alcon IOL portfolio
- Monitoring and supporting consumables availability and consumption
- Initiating equipment leads supported by product experts
- Developing and executing Cataract-dominant Account plans
- Deriving insights from the current customer environment and executing successful commercial strategies
- Providing end-to-end customer support for Cataract customers and coordinating activities with specialists (AT, VitRet)
- Mapping decision-making processes and key stakeholders to inform business plans
- Building relationships with key stakeholders and representing Alcon
- Using a consultative sales approach to match products and services with customer and patient needs
- Driving demand generation and negotiating contracts
- Preparing and negotiating quotes
- Liaising with technical/clinical experts as needed
- Initiating and driving local events to serve customer needs
- Monitoring and reporting on competitor activities
- Converting competition through value-based selling involving product experts
What you’ll bring to Alcon:
- Sales experience in medical devices and/or Pharma within a surgical environment
- Consultative selling experience in B2B industries, ideally high-end MedDev
- Ophthalmology experience is preferred but not essential
- Experience in customer-facing roles interacting with medical and non-medical staff
- Cross-functional and matrix working skills
- Knowledge of budget impact models and value concepts
- Strong business and selling skills
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both technical and interpersonal
- Problem-solving skills
- Understanding of surgical techniques, anatomy, physiology, pathology, and optics
- Business acumen, including Value-Based Selling
- Negotiation skills
- Knowledge of Cataract consumables, equipment, diagnostics, visualization is desirable
- Candidate should be based in Northern Ireland, as 60-70% of time will be spent there, with 30-40% in the Republic of Ireland.
