Account Manager (London & South East) (Academic Publishing), London
This is a full-time sales role covering a portfolio of Higher Education academic institutions in London and the South East of England. The position is territory-based, requiring the candidate to reside within the designated area.
The primary responsibilities include:
- Managing relationships with a portfolio of customers, understanding their needs, and providing tailored sales services to enhance customer satisfaction.
- Planning and executing visits to educational institutions to promote textbooks and other sales opportunities using consultative selling techniques.
- Monitoring sales performance, identifying underperforming accounts, and implementing corrective actions.
- Analyzing sales data, maintaining reports, and communicating with internal teams including sales, marketing, and editorial departments.
- Maintaining accurate records in the CRM system (Salesforce).
- Building external and internal relationships to promote the company's sales strategy.
- Developing alternative sales channels, including direct sales for print and digital content, ensuring alignment with overall sales strategies.
- Reporting sales activities and challenges to the Higher Education Sales Manager, with recommendations for improvement.
- Participating in UK and international sales meetings to enhance product knowledge and gather market intelligence.
Qualifications include:
- Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working independently within a territory-based sales environment.
- Strong self-management, time management, and organizational skills.
- Proven track record in consultative sales, preferably in publishing or academia.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to build and develop relationships easily.
- Commercial outlook with the ability to support sales targets through strategic recommendations.
- Focus on customer satisfaction and service.
- Experience using CRM tools, ideally Salesforce.
